Questions and Answers
To conclude the manual, below are some questions that might arise during gameplay along with answers to help clarify things.
This list will be updated whenever possible with questions that I might receive from players.
-
How many copies of a specific card can I have?
You may have up to 3 copies of a card in your deck, unless it's a Mythical Cryptid, which you may only have 1 copy of per Mythical Cryptid.
-
Do Aura and Attack cards stack? Or is there a limit?
There is no limit to the number of Aura or Attack cards that you can equip to a monster. Make them as strong as you can if you like and give them an entire smorgasbord of moves to use.
-
Can I attack my own Cryptids?
Most often, no. However, if there is a card effect that says "target Cryptid does (such and such) to target Cryptid", you may use it on literally any Cryptid on the field (if any prerequisite conditions are fulfilled).
-
When a Support is damaged or debuffed, does that affect how much of its stats are granted to its Combatant?
Nope! Its granted stats are only affected by its death unless otherwise stated by a card effect.
-
Can I equip and use an Attack card on a Support?
Yes! Supports cannot usually initate basic attacks. But equipping an Attack card to a Support gives it the ability to attack (but this usually means those attacks cost a Pyre or require conditions based on the Attack card).
Any Cryptid that attacks must rest, even if it is a Support. -
If an Instance or card effect refers to "evolution conditions", does that refer to any Cryptid that can evolve?
Yes, evolution conditions refer to any and every Cryptid that is capable of evolution, even those without special requirements.
-
Do status ailments stack (like Calamity, Burn, etc.)?
Individually, they do not!
Cryptids with Calamity cannot gain more Calamity counters. Cryptids that are burned cannot be re-burned until the current burn status wears off. Same with paralysis and so on.
However, different status ailments can stack! A single Cryptid can be affected by Paralysis, Burn, Toxic, Calamity, and so on (the poor thing)! -
Do I still gain my default Pyre during my turn if I am out of cards to draw?
Yes, the action of drawing a card isn't what grants you your default Pyre every turn - It simply happens at the same time. So, if you can't draw a card, you still gain a Pyre at the same time you would have drawn a card at the start of your turn.
-
Mutant Razorback's first attack ability deals damage to target enemy cryptid equal to its AP upon conjuring it, but its second attack ability states that it deals 2 extra damage to steel cryptids. Does this apply to the first attack ability?
Yes, these effects are simultaneous and therefore stack with together.
-
With Insatiable Hunger, does the equipped cryptid get +1AP before, during or after the attack?
After the attack. You must first take a bite before you can swallow its nutrients!
-
Thunderbird's second support ability states that, after switching places with its combatant, "it" gains +2AP. Does "it" refer to Thunderbird or the Combatant it switched with?
This refers to Thunderbird - Give that beautiful bird the +2AP it deserves.
-
If I'm attacked and forced to conjure a kindling cryptid but I have traps on the field that I can use, what do I do?
In the event of an attack when you have no cryptids on the field (forcing you to conjure a kindling cryptid), if the attack goes through, you must conjure the kindling cryptid.
But if your traps would prevent that attack, you may activate the trap first. This would keep you from being forced to play a kindling cryptid on your enemy's terms. -
Does Library Gargoyle's support ability grant +2/+2 to itself or its combatant?
Those stats are granted to its combatant.
-
Does Face-Off allow you to force an enemy cryptid attack another enemy cryptid?
At this point in time, yes. However, changes might be made in the future if this card seems too powerful (likely an increase in pyre costs or rarity).
-
Does Draugr's second attack ability allow him two separate attacks? Or is it only one target?
Draugr's second attack ability allows it two initiate two separate attacks, so the player can choose two different targets, one target, or none. In fact, both attacks do not have to be used. If Draugr ca attack twice, and the player only uses one of those attacks, then Draugr still rests but only when your attack phase is over.
-
Does Mothman's first support ability make its combatant immune to any combat damage or just unable to drop below 1HP?
It becomes immune to damage from attacks altogether.
-
If I have multiple Skinwalkers, and the first one's support ability switches the stats of a combatant, then the second Skinwalker's support ability tries the same stat switch, will it work?
No. Skinwalker's support ability condition states it may only be done once per cryptid. That cryptid is the target (its combatant). Once a cryptid's stats are switched this way by Skinwalker during a match, it cannot be done again.

What does "augment" mean? The Goblin evolution line of cards mention "auras and augments" in their abilities.
Augments refer to Aura and Attack cards because they permanently equip to and "augment" the target card.
The goblin ability descriptions are worded badly and I will fix that in future editions. It should say just "augments" not "auras and augments".
